Under Express Entry, you can get 50 CRS points (if the skill level is 0, A or B) or 200 points (if the skill level is 00) if you have a valid job offer that meets certain conditions. Not every job offer will give you these points.
In most cases, your employer in Canada will need a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to offer you a valid job for Express Entry. The employer can apply for an LMIA only if there is a need for a temporary foreign worker and there are no Canadian citizens or permanent residents available for that job.
The conditions that make a job offer valid for Express Entry are:
- Your job offer must be recent (less than a year old)
- You cannot use the same job offer letter that you used to get your work permit
- It must be in writing
- It should not be from an embassy, high commission or consulate
- It should mention the details of the job such as your pay, deductions, job duties, hours of work and other conditions of employment
- The job offer should be made by one employer and it should be continuous, paid, full time and not seasonal
- The offer should be for at least one year after you receive your PR visa
- It should be for a job that is under the NOC Skill level 0, A or B
The job offer should also fulfill one of the following 3 conditions:
- The offer is made by an employer with a new positive LMIA that approves the offer and names you and your position
OR
- If you are currently working in Canada in a NOC 0, A or B job on a work permit that was issued based on an LMIA, and:
-
- you are working for an employer listed on your work permit
- you are authorized to work in Canada on the day you apply for a PR visa, and when the visa is issued
- your current employer made you an offer to give you a full time job for at least one year if you’re accepted as a PR
OR
- If you have a valid work permit for a NOC 0, A or B job that is exempt from needing an LMIA, and you:
-
- are currently working for an employer specified on the work permit
- have one year of full time work experience or an equal amount of part-time work for that employer
- have a valid job offer from that employer for at least one year after you receive your PR visa
